| Town of Townsend, Massachusetts Town Hall Community . The Town of Townsend wishes to express its profound and heartfelt gratitude to the Sterilite Corporation for their extraordinary gift to the Town of a new Town Library, Senior Center and Highway Garage. The Town is indeed fortunate to have within its borders a corporate citizen that possesses the integrity, quality and generosity, as has been repeatedly demonstrated by the Sterilite Corporation over many years. Thank You So Very Much !! Summer Band concerts on the common, fairs and bazaars, church suppers, a colorful Board of Selectmen, entertaining Town Meetings, good schools, great people and so much conservation land, it could hold a whole community - these are some of the attributes that make Townsend a great place to live, work and raise children. Rich in history, Townsend is a flourishing hub of Antiques shops. The Squannacook River, a premier cold water fishery, meanders its way through town, and there are many
opportunities for recreation, or just to enjoy the peace and beauty of this
languid waterway. Situated at the junction of Routes 119 and 13, with rural New Hampshire bordering us to the North, Lunenburg and Fitchburg to the South, Ashby on the
West side, and Groton and Pepperell to the East, Townsend is uniquely placed
between the rural and the suburban, and has characteristics of both. A strong
independent streak characterizes many of our citizens...
